Nonlinear polaritons in Bose-Einstein condensates in optical lattices
We study the interaction of a Bose-Einstein condensate in an optical lattice
with additional electromagnetic fields under Raman resonance condition. System
of evolution equations describing ultra-short optical pulse propagation and
photo-induced transport of cold atoms in optical lattice is derived. The steady
state solution of these equations was found. There are new kinds of polaritonic
solitary waves propagating.Comment: pdf-file, Reported on "IX International Readings on Quantum Optics",

Solitary electromagnetic waves propagation in the asymmetric oppositely-directed coupler
We consider the electromagnetic waves propagating in the system of coupled
waveguides. One of the system components is a standard waveguide fabricated
from nonlinear medium having positive refraction and another component is a
waveguide produced from an artificial material having negative refraction. The
metamaterial constituting the second waveguide has linear characteristics and a
wave propagating in the waveguide of this type propagates in the direction
opposite to direction of energy flux. It is found that the coupled nonlinear
solitary waves propagating both in the same direction are exist in this
oppositely-directed coupler due to linear coupling between nonlinear positive
refractive waveguide and linear negative refractive waveguide. The
corresponding analytical solution is found and it is used for numerical
simulation to illustrate that the results of the solitary wave collisions are
sensible to the relative velocity of the colliding solitary waves.Comment: 9 pages,5 figure
Propagation and interaction of ultrashort electromagnetic pulses in nonlinear media with a quadratic-cubic nonlinearity
Propagation of extremely short unipolar pulses of electromagnetic field
("videopulses") is considered in the framework of a model in which the material
medium is represented by anharmonic oscillators (approximating bound electrons)
with quadratic and cubic nonlinearities. Two families of exact analytical
solutions (with positive or negative polarity) are found for the moving
solitary pulses. Direct simulations demonstrate that the pulses are very robust
against perturbations. Two unipolar pulses collide nearly elastically, while
collisions between pulses with opposite polarities and a small relative
velocity are inelastic, leading to emission of radiation and generation of a
small-amplitude additional pulse.Comment: 12 pages, 10 figure

Electromagnetically induced switching of ferroelectric thin films
We analyze the interaction of an electromagnetic spike (one cycle) with a
thin layer of ferroelectric medium with two equilibrium states. The model is
the set of Maxwell equations coupled to the undamped Landau-Khalatnikov
equation, where we do not assume slowly varying envelopes. From linear
scattering theory, we show that low amplitude pulses can be completely
reflected by the medium. Large amplitude pulses can switch the ferroelectric.
Using numerical simulations and analysis, we study this switching for long and
short pulses, estimate the switching times and provide useful information for
experiments
Development of Internal Control System in the Modern Companies: Theoretical Approaches and Suggestions for Improvement
Complication of a competitive situation forces the modern companies to pay special attention to the organization of management. Most it belongs to the companies, which conduct economic activity in the cross border mode, for example to the companies of the oil and gas sector. One of ways of increase in efficiency of management is development of such element as a subsystem of internal control. The research objective consists in the analysis of conditions and prerequisites of the organization of internal control in the company and development of recommendations about its implementation. Research problems are assessment of the importance of internal control for effective management of the companies; identification of conditions and restrictions of development of internal control systems of the Russian companies; the analysis of advantages of use of internal control system in the company; justification of recommendations about development of internal control system. Because of the conducted research, it is revealed that influence formation of internal control systems of the modern Russian companies as factors of national and international property. At the same time complication of a political and economic situation in the world and aggravation of sanctions and information confrontation between the countries of the world results in need of account for the organization of systems of management in general and subsystems of internal control in particular of the international requirements. Recommendations about development of internal control systems of the Russian organizations based on the Concept of COSO are presented in the article. Practical use of results of the conducted research is possible in the systems of management of the Russian companies including relating to the oil and gas sector
Assessment of the reliability of the locomotive based on statistical methods of quality management
The lack of reliability of the diesel locomotive operation leads to a decrease in the technical and economic efficiency of using the locomotive service of the enterprise. During the experiment which aimed at assessing the reliability of repair and maintenance of a diesel locomotive in one of the railway divisions of OJSC "Russian Railways", it was found that the failures may be distributed by types of equipment, based on the failures for 12 months of 2017. Statistical quality management methods were used to identify the most problematic types of locomotive equipment and specific causes of failures. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd
